About

On this date in 1965, The Rolling Stones' single, "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," was released. Earlier, guitarist Keith Richards came up with the iconic riff and played it into a tape recorder before falling to sleep. See the Wikipedia page for the song. The Wikipedia page for the hotel says that he dreamt the riff. I learned about the significance of the hotel from the Dan Reed show today on WXPN, Philadelphia. Mr. Reed also said that the Phillies used to stay here for Spring training ( as does Wikipedia). According to Web accounts, the hotel is now owned by the Church of Scientology.
There is an account saying that the lyrics were written by Mick Jagger poolside here, http://www.tampabay.com/things-to-do/music/50-years-ago-the-rolling-stones-song-satisfaction-was-born-in-clearwater/2227921. The same account says that parts of the story are questioned by some sources.
