About

Holy Rosary Church was on S. King Drive and adjacent to it was the rectory on E. 113th St. It is indicated in several places on the Web that Pres. Barak Obama's office was in the rectory, and that the parish closed in 2008, to be sold to New Day in 2009.
Yesterday's New York Times, at pp. 1, 16, had an article about Pres. Obama's days at this church, where he had taken a job as a community organizer, paying less than $10,000 a year, for the Developing Communities Project. It says, in part: "Mr. Obama had a small office with two cloudy glass-block windows on the ground floor of Holy Rosary, a handsome red brick parish on the South Side, where he would pop down the hall to the office of the Rev. William Stenzel, raise a phantom cigarette to his lips and ask, 'Want to go out for lunch?' Besides sneaking smoke breaks with the priest on the roof, Mr. Obama listened to him during Mass. ..."
