Starting in 1906 this building hosted the fire patrol, run by insurance companies, to salvage property during and after a fire in New York City. It closed a few years ago, and Anderson Cooper the famous journalist bought it and converted it to a home. He preserved the Beaux Art exterior. The fire patrol members from this unit had heroic roles during the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks.
