This is a 21,875 square-foot vacation home for Catholic priests. It was bought by the Philadelphia Archdiocese in 1963 for $100,000. The late Cardinal Krol spent a lot of time here. The Archdiocese needs money badly, so it is being sold, which could probably raise $5 million. Real estate experts believe it will be bought by investors, and razed and divided into single lots. According to someone interviewed for an article on p. 1 of today's Philadelphia Inquirer, this mansion was once owned by a member of the Luden's cough drops family.
