My ten-year-old son insisted we try this place when he saw the photo of Adam Richman (Man v. Food TV Show) on the bulletin board out front last Saturday night. When we were seated, the helpful waitress told us that Mr. Richman actually went to the Las Vegas location, and they no longer offer the menu item he ate, as it was so hot people were getting sick. We had a good time. The food was good, and everything was very spicy, although my son was able to handle the wings. The shrimp, crawfish, etc., came in boiling bags that you sliced open, and a pail was provdied for debris. It was perhaps the hottest cajun food I've ever had. After a while, it was too much hot spice, but that is a fun gimmick. We really enjoyed the etouffee. There was a nice energy in the crowded rooms.
A colleague and I went here for lunch yesterday (we were in DC at a convention at the Marriott Adams Mark across the street) and had a bad experience. Even though it opens at noon, the waiter seemed puzzled why anyone would want to be seated at noon, although he relented after a few minutes. Service was awful. One waiter for the entire outdoor cafe section. The food appeared to be OK. But the experience with the service made us too miserable to enjoy it. Other patrons got up and left after becoming tired of waiting to be waited on. Perhaps lunch is not the time to go here.
