About

There is an article on this island in today's Philadelphia Inquirer, at p. C2. The info herein is from the article. A fort was built here in the 1820s. It had been a Union garrison and prison for Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. It handled naval vessels during the world wars. It became a state park in 1951. It has a museum and can be visited by ferry. It is supposedly haunted and hosts ghost tours.
